With over 4000 inhabitants, Supetar today is the largest settlement on the island of Brac as well as being its administrative, cultural, economic and tourist centre. A small island town , to the north part of the island of Brac, ot os perfectly connected by ferry lines with Split and hides numerous unrevealed beauties. Its rich cultural and historical heritage, rhe cheerful  Dalmatian way of living, the variety in quality acommodation, numerous cultural events, beautiful beaches, clean sea, vicinity both to the land and to the hinterland of the beautiful island of Brac make it a really ideal place for a holiday.

History of Supetar

Supetar s history dates back to the ancient times of Roman emperors of which testimony are the remains of the early Christian mosaics  located close to the Parish Church and close to the villa rustica on the cape of  St Nicholas by the beach of Banj. Over its history Supetar developed as the port of Nerezisca the historical  island s metropolis. The name Supetar was first mentioned in 1423 and it gained  its current urban characteristic during the 17 th and 18 th centuries when was inhabited by numerous peoples from Donji Humac. It has Town Status sincve 1997.

St Mary of the Annunciation Parish Church it was built  in 1604 on the foundations of the former basilica. In 1729 is burnt down again and reconstruction terminated in 1733 when the church acquired its current baroque aspect.

When is Town Day  in Supetar on 29 th june is celebrate and organize a large party in honour of its patron saints, St Peter and St Paul. St Peter was one of the Sea of Galilee, and in the Catholic Church is known as the fisher of men.

One of the most beautiful sites in Supetar is its cemetery which is full of excellent works of art created by great Croatian sculptors. Ivan Rendic born in Supetar and Toma Rosandic-  Petrinovic Family Mausoleum.

Above Supetar is the small church of St Lucas from 10th century with the oldest boat depiction in Dalmatia- a stone relief and the small Church of St Roch- Supetar s protector from the plague in 20 th century . Close to Supetar , just ten minutes walk along a tarmac road from the roundabout is Trolokve, a beautiful oasis of peace and a cultural and historical complex made up of three puddles and with a watering system.

The beach is very beautiful, the promenade is amazing, you can walk a few hours and after that to swimm in water. Supetar is a very nice place close to Split, you can came with ferry every day , to see this beautiful place and eat something good , something special in of the restaurant from port.
